Responsible Gaming
What does Nanaimo Casino promise about safer play?
1.1 We want our slots, table games and live tables to stay fun, every single session. Money you bet is money spent on a good time. It is not money you should expect to win back.
1.2 Our games are open to players aged 19 and over. You can join from anywhere local law allows online gambling. Our age and identity checks, plus our anti-money laundering steps, follow Canadian rules.
1.3 We keep an eye out for warning signs. These include fast bursts of deposits, repeated attempts to chase losses and very long late-night sessions. If we notice them, we may email you, suggest a limit or pause your account until we've talked with you.
1.4 All of these tools cost nothing. Turn them on yourself from your account settings, or email us and we'll set up the ones you choose.
1.5 We never send offers while you're self-excluded or taking a break.
Who offers free and confidential help?
2.1 These organisations help players and families with gambling worries, at no cost:
- Alberta Health Services Addiction Helpline
- Responsible Gambling Council
- Gambling Therapy
- ConnexOntario
2.2 You can reach out to them whether you play with us or not. You do not have to stop playing first. Their teams listen without judging.
2.3 Family members and friends are welcome to contact them too. Concern about someone else's play is a good reason to ask for advice.
2.4 While you get support, we are happy to add a limit or a break to your account. Just email us.
How do we keep minors out?
3.1 Only players aged 19+ can play at Nanaimo Casino. Your age and identity are checked ahead of your first deposit. You can't deposit until you pass both checks.
3.2 Any account we find that belongs to someone under 19 gets closed right away, and its bets are cancelled. We keep that person's details on file so they cannot sign up again. Each step is explained on our Age Verification page.
3.3 Never share your password, and always sign out after using a shared device. Turn on the built-in parental controls on your phone, tablet or computer.
What's a simple way to look at my own habits?
4.1 You can find the self-assessment quiz in your account settings. It only takes a few minutes: answer quick yes or no questions and see your result right away. Your answers stay private to you.
4.2 You can also ask yourself a few quick questions:
- Do I play for longer than I planned?
- Do I raise my stakes to win back losses?
- Have I gambled with money I borrowed, or money I needed for bills?
- Do I keep my gambling secret from the people around me?
- Do I feel restless or grumpy when I cannot play?
- Has play caused arguments, or got in the way of work or sleep?
4.3 If you answered yes to any of these, now is a good moment to switch on one of the tools below. You can also contact an organisation listed in section 2.
Which tools can I use, and how does each one work?
Deposit limits
5.1 Choose the most you want to deposit in a day, week or month. Once you reach it, the cashier stops new deposits until the next day, week or month begins.
Limits on wagers and stakes
5.2 A wager limit caps your total bets over a day, week or month. A stake limit caps how much you can put on a single bet. Both cover every game on the site.
Reality checks
5.3 Pick how often you'd like a reminder, and a pop-up shows up every time that interval passes while you play. It displays your playing time, plus your wins and losses for this session. Then you decide: carry on playing or log out.
Time alerts
5.4 Set a session length you are comfortable with. When the timer runs out, we let you know on screen so you can wrap things up.
Take a break
5.5 During a cooling-off period, your account is paused for as long as you pick, from 24 hours to 6 weeks. While it lasts, you can't deposit or place bets, and we send you no marketing. When it's over, your account reopens on its own.
Self-exclusion
5.6 Self-exclusion is for a longer break. Your account stays closed until your chosen period ends, and we cannot reopen it sooner, even if you ask. During that time, we also block any new account opened with your details. We suggest combining self-exclusion with help from an organisation listed in section 2.
Account closure
5.7 Want to stop playing for good? Email us to request closure of your account, and we'll take care of it. After we finish our standard checks, any remaining cash balance is sent to your verified withdrawal method.
Confirming your identity and location
5.8 Before we process any first deposit, we verify who you are and make sure you're playing from a location we accept. This keeps minors out and stops anyone from using someone else's account.
When do changes to my limits kick in?
6.1 Lowering a limit works instantly. The new, lower figure applies the moment you save it.
6.2 A request to increase or lift a limit comes into force after 24 hours, and your current limit keeps applying until then. This brief delay gives you a chance to reconsider.
6.3 Once a cooling-off period or self-exclusion has started, it can't be shortened.
Who can I contact about safer play?

7.2 Simply ask, and we'll set limits, start a break or close your account on your behalf. Your messages are kept confidential, as Your Privacy explains.
