Age Verification
Who can play at Nanaimo Casino?
1.1 The minimum age to play is 19. This is the legal age in British Columbia, our home province, and it applies to all players.
1.2 We only open accounts where online gaming is legal under local law. Canadian rules guide all our checks on age, identity and anti-money laundering. Where the local minimum age is above 19, the higher age applies.
1.3 Nobody under 19 may open an account, play any game or join Nanaimo Rewards, even with a parent's permission.
1.4 When you sign up, you confirm you're aged 19 or over and every detail you give us is true.
How do we check your age?
2.1 When you sign up, you share your full legal name, home address and date of birth.
2.2 Ahead of your first deposit, we run electronic checks against trusted Canadian data sources to verify your age and identity. Once you pass, the cashier opens up.
2.3 If the electronic check can't confirm who you are, we'll ask for a copy of a current government photo ID. See our Account Verification page for the documents we accept.
2.4 All payment methods must be registered in your name. We can't accept cards or e-wallets that belong to someone else.
2.5 Age checks may be run again whenever we see a need, for example after a change in your details or if anything suggests the account is being used by someone underage.
What happens when a player is found to be underage?
3.1 We close the account right away.
3.2 All bets are cancelled, any winnings are void and any bonus is removed.
3.3 Once we confirm who owns the payment method used, deposits are refunded to it.
3.4 We block the details used so they cannot open a new account.
3.5 If an adult lets someone under 19 use their account, we'll close that account too, and any winnings from that play are void.
3.6 Do you suspect someone under 19 is playing here? Send us an email. We look into every report.
How do you keep minors safe on a shared device?
4.1 Many households share phones, tablets and laptops. Here are some easy steps to keep young people off your account:
- stop your browser from saving passwords
- sign out whenever you finish playing
- use a PIN, fingerprint or face check to lock your screen
- keep children away from your payment cards and e-wallet passwords
- never leave a game open on an unattended screen
- clear saved form details so your name and card do not fill in by themselves
4.2 Your account is your responsibility, so don't give anyone else access.
4.3 Our Cookie Policy explains how remembered logins work and how to turn them off.
Which filters and parental controls can I use?
5.1 Most computers, phones, tablets and game consoles include parental controls. Turn them on to block gambling websites and apps, limit screen time and require approval before downloads.
5.2 Many home routers can block whole categories of websites for every device on your network.
5.3 Filtering software and family safety apps can block gambling content and send you an alert when someone tries to reach it.
5.4 In app stores, set the age classification on each child's profile so gambling apps cannot be installed.
5.5 Talk with young people about gambling ads and about how the odds always favour the house. The organisations named on our Responsible Gaming page also help families.
How can you contact us about an age concern?
6.1 Write to mail@nanaimocasino.app and add Age Concern to the subject line. Please include the username or email tied to the account, if you know it.
6.2 We act quickly on every message and handle it in confidence, as set out in Your Privacy.
6.3 The full rules on who may hold an account are in our Terms of Use.
