Account Verification
Why does account verification matter?
1.1 Knowing who our players are keeps Nanaimo Casino safe for everyone. Our checks stop underage play and protect you from someone else using your name or payment details. They also help us block fraud and money laundering.
1.2 You can play with us anywhere local law allows online gaming. Our checks on age, identity and anti-money laundering follow Canadian rules. Verifying your account keeps us within those rules.
1.3 One account per player, please. Any duplicate accounts get closed.
1.4 We verify who you are and where you live ahead of your first deposit. Ahead of your first withdrawal, we check your payment details. Once you're verified, payouts are quick: most options take 1 to 4 hours, and a bank wire can take up to 12 hours.
Do we keep checking after you sign up?
2.1 Yes. Verification is ongoing, not a single step. Our systems and our team look at account activity regularly.
2.2 Here are some of the patterns we watch for:
- depositing and then cashing out after very little play
- large, sudden jumps in how much or how often you deposit
- payment methods registered to someone other than you
- logins from places where we don't accept players
- links between your account and other accounts
2.3 If anything looks unusual, we might request fresh documents or extra details. We may pause your account while our check is underway.
2.4 Please keep your account settings details current. If your name changes or you move to a new home address, tell us by email.
Why do you ask where my money comes from?
3.1 We may need you to show where the money you deposit comes from. This can happen when your deposits grow larger or more frequent, or when your activity shifts a lot.
3.2 Useful documents are:
- recent payslips
- bank statements showing salary or savings
- paperwork for the sale of a home, car or investments
- inheritance papers
- tax returns, for self-employed players
3.3 Where Canadian rules call for it, we may also ask about your source of wealth, meaning how your overall savings were built up.
3.4 We treat these documents in confidence and use them only for these checks, as Your Privacy explains.
Do you check players against PEP and sanctions lists?
4.1 Yes. Every player is screened at sign-up, then checked again regularly. These checks cover politically exposed persons (PEPs) plus Canadian and international sanctions lists.
4.2 PEPs are people in a senior public role, now or in the past. Think senior politicians, judges, military officers or heads of state-owned companies. Their family members and close associates are screened as well.
4.3 Being a PEP does not stop you from playing. We carry out extra checks, which can include source of funds, and a senior member of our team must approve the account.
4.4 Anyone listed on a sanctions list cannot play with us. If an account matches such a list, we freeze it and deal with it as the law requires.
What happens when verification cannot be completed?
5.1 If a document is missing, unclear, expired or doesn't match your account details, we email you a list of what is still needed.
5.2 Deposits and withdrawals are on hold until the checks are complete. Meanwhile, your balance stays safe in your account.
5.3 If verification still cannot be completed, we close the account. We also close it if we find fake documents, play by a minor or use of a payment method that does not belong to you. Any bets and bonus winnings tied to the issue are cancelled.
5.4 Where the law permits, verified deposits go back to the first payment method you used. If the law says we must hold the funds, we keep them.
What records are kept, and what gets reported?
6.1 We store copies of your verification documents, your transaction history and notes from our checks. Canadian law decides how long we hold them, even after your account closes.
6.2 We keep these records safe. They can only be viewed by staff whose job needs them.
6.3 When Canadian law calls for it, we report large or suspicious transactions to the relevant Canadian authorities. By law, we are not permitted to tell a player about such a report.
6.4 We also cooperate with lawful requests from police and the courts.
Which documents will we ask for?
7.1 Identity and age: a clear colour copy of photo ID issued by the government and still valid, for example your passport or driver's licence. All four corners must show, and nothing can be covered.
7.2 Address: a recent bank statement, utility bill or official government letter showing your name and the address on your account.
7.3 Payment method:
- Visa: photos of the front and back of the card. Cover the middle digits on the front and the security code on the back
- Interac e-Transfer: a screenshot from your online banking that shows the account holder's name
- MuchBetter or Payz (ecoPayz): a screenshot of your profile page that shows your name and email
7.4 From time to time, we may also ask for a photo of you holding your ID document.
7.5 Just a reminder: the minimum withdrawal is C$100 (Interac/eCheck) and the maximum is C$25,000 per day. We don't charge any fee on deposits or withdrawals.

8.2 We will email you once your documents are accepted, or tell you what else we need.
